In short, we Have to say, Dew point measurement is very important in drying systems for plastic production as it helps to ensure that the plastic being dried is completely free of moisture.
Because if there is moisture in the plastic, it will cause many problems, including reduced strength and durability, reduced quality of finished products, and even defects such as cracks and warping.

 

Then Why do know Dew point measurement is very important ?

In fact, most of plastic manufacturers and processors alwasy to use various methods to dry plastics, such as hot air dryers, adsorption dryers and vacuum dryers. However, usually, they only do simply applying heat or using a desiccant such as silica gel may not be enough to completely remove moisture from the plastic. This is method is not correct, because the moisture content in the plastic is not only affected by the drying method, but also by environmental conditions such as temperature and humidity. so that means, we need exactlly know how much moisture still in the plastic materials.

We started using a dew point tester to determine the moisture content in the surrounding air, which can have a major impact on the plastic drying process. The dew point is the temperature at which water vapor in the air begins to condense into a liquid. By measuring the dew point, plastic manufacturers can ensure that the drying environment is dry enough to completely remove the moisture from the plastic.

Anyway, If the dew point value is too high, moisture may still be present in the plastic even after the plastic has gone through the drying process. So it can lead to defects, loss of strength and reduced durability in the finished product. But if you can ensure that the dew point is low enough, the plastic will be completely free of moisture, allowing you to produce a high quality, durable product.
